Bungie’s Marathon was one of the surprise announcements during the PlayStation showcase back in June of 2023; as it is the revival of the 90s franchise.
With this extraction looter shooter aiming for a 2024 release date, some new unfortunate news has hit the waves, causing a delay.
Here’s what we know.
Bungie’s Marathon Delayed Until 2025 Amid Layoffs
Reported by Bloombergs Jason Schreier, the recent layoffs that are happening at Bungie have caused some delays with their two upcoming projects, Destiny 2 The Final Shape and Marathon.
While Final Shape was only pushed back a few months, as we can assume with the reduced workforce they’re going to need some extra time to polish some things out.
Marathon’s delay is one that kinda shocked the community, as it had no release date, and it appears Bungie was targeting a late 2024 release date for players.
Now, the title has been pushed back until sometime in 2025, and Schreier noting the following:
“Bungie laid off an undisclosed number of staff today, part of ongoing job cuts across PlayStation. The company recently delayed the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape to June 2024 and the new game Marathon to 2025, sources tell Bloomberg “
